Rare Longines “Abercrombie & Fitch” men’s Modern design wristwatch in sterling silver, circa 1918.

Through its agent in New York, Albert Wittnauer, Longines supplied watches to a variety of American retailers including jeweler Tiffany & Co. and expedition outfitter Abercrombie & Fitch Co. of New York. According to Longines' historical archives in St. Imier, Switzerland, this watch was invoiced to Wittnauer on June 1, 1918. This is only the second example of a Longines model I have seen made for Abercrombie. It is in excellent condition showing only light wear. Caseback is excellent and unengraved. Case measures 41mm long and 34mm wide. Original glass enamel dial is perfect, with no chips or cracks. Has new glass crystal. Crown is white gold fill. This watch is powered by its correct 7-jewel Longines caliber 13.33ZZ manual wind movement, just serviced and running strong. Vintage pigskin strap is excellent.
