Scarce "Giant 6-Size Transitional" mens' Modern design wristwatch in silverode, circa 1915.

Wristwatches designed for men were slow to gain popularity until just before World War I, and then more so during and immediately after the war. The practicality of a wristwatch resulted in pocket watch movements being re-purposed into cases with lugs so they could be worn as wristwatches. The large model has a 6-size Waltham movement and dial. It is in excellent condition showing only light wear. Caseback is very good, with a monogram and some minor bumps. Case measures 43mm long and 39mm wide. Ornate multi-color glass enamel dial is superb with no chips or cracks. Glass crystal is superb. The watch is powered by a 6-size 7-jewel gilt Waltham manual wind movement, just serviced and running strong.
