Hamilton Tonneau Engraved Yellow
Rare Hamilton “Tonneau Engraved” men’s Art Deco design wristwatch in 14K yellow gold fill, circa 1929.
The "Tonneau" has a large, distinctive case with an engraved bezel and case. While readily available today in white gold fill and somewhat available green gold fill, it is quite rare in yellow. Only 816 watches were made in yellow gold fill and this is only the second example I have offered in 25 years. It was priced to consumers at $57.00 in 1929. This example is in crisp, excellent condition with no brassing. Engraved designs are crisp and unworn. Caseback is excellent and unengraved, with some faint scratches. Case measures 34mm long and 27mm wide. Original two-tone dial is excellent. Has new glass crystal. The watch is powered by its correct 17-jewel Hamilton grade 987-F manual wind movement, just serviced and running strong.
