Scarce Elgin “Legionnaire 421” men’s Art Deco design wristwatch in two-tone 14K green gold fill and chromium nickel with black enamel bezel, circa 1929.

The “Legionnaire 421" has a two-tone case with exploding Roman numerals set in black enamel. It is one the classic Art Deco design Elgins and is highly desirable today. It was priced to consumers at $24.00 in 1929. This example is in excellent condition with no wear to the chromium bezel or brassing to the gold filled center case body. Black enamel is superb and complete. Caseback is very good, with a military presentation engraving. The case measures 39mm long and 31mm wide. Refinished dial is superb. Has new glass crystal. This watch is powered by a 17-jewel Elgin grade 487 manual wind movement, just serviced and running strong.
