Scarce Illinois “Chieftain” men’s Art Deco design wristwatch in 14K yellow gold fill, circa 1929.

With its striking Art Deco Southwestern-inspired geometric bezel designs, the “Chieftain” is one of the most sought-after Illinois wristwatch designs. The “Chieftain” was priced to consumers at a modest $40.00 in 1929. This example is in crisp, near mint condition with only a microscopic speck of brassing in each bezel corner... it has no wear along the top and bottom edges of the bezel. It is the nicest yellow “Chieftain” I have ever seen. Caseback is excellent and unengraved. The case measures 33mm long and 28mm wide. Original two-tone dial is excellent. Has new glass crystal. This watch is powered by its correct 15-jewel Illinois grade 903 manual wind movement, just serviced and running strong.
