Rare Lord Elgin “Unidentified Model” men’s Retro Modern design wristwatch in solid 14K yellow gold, circa 1948.

In the late 1940s and early 1950s Elgin offered many different models of men's wristwatches in solid gold. Most were cataloged for only a year or two, and none seem to have been made in great numbers. I have only seen a handful of this model, it is quite rare. It is a properly signed, factory-cased model, but its Elgin model or name designation has yet to be discovered from existing Elgin documents.  The case was made by DiVincenzo & Arienti of New York, one of the very few case designs this casemaker supplied to Elgin. It is in excellent condition showing only light wear. Caseback is excellent and unengraved. Case measures 37mm long and 24mm wide. Original dial is superb, has solid gold applied numerals and markers. Has new glass crystal. The watch is powered by its correct 21-jewel Elgin grade 559 manual wind movement, just serviced and running strong.
