Scarce Elgin “Senior 952” men’s Art Deco design wristwatch in chromium nickel, circa 1931.

Elgin catalogued this watch as the “Senior 952” but its fantastic geometric black enamel inlaid bezel designs reminiscent of the carvings on ancient Aztec temples in Mexico has inspired most collectors to call it the “Aztec.” It was priced at $25.00 in 1931. It is a very difficult watch to find and is among the most desirable of all Art Deco styled Elgin wristwatches. This example is in excellent condition showing no wear to the chromium plating on the bezel. Black enamel inlay is superb and complete. The caseback is fair, and displays the typical plating loss, scratches, and pitting. The case measures 35mm long and 25mm wide. Original new old stock dial is perfect. Has new glass crystal. The watch is powered by its correct 7-jewel Elgin grade 488 manual wind movement, just serviced and running strong.

Price $650. SOLD
