Rare Elgin “Crusader 1823” men’s Art Deco design wristwatch in solid 14K yellow gold, circa 1937.

Early Elgin men's wristwatches are difficult to find in solid gold. The company focused the majority of its production on lower-cost and better-selling models in base metal and gold-filled cases. The "Crusader 1823" was one of the few solid gold models that Elgin offered in the mid-1930s. It was priced at $65.00 in 1937 and this is one of only a handful I've seen. This example is in excellent condition showing only very slight wear. Caseback is excellent and unengraved, with some faint dents. Case measures 40mm long and 26mm wide. Original two-tone embossed dial is excellent, with some light marks. Has new glass crystal. The watch is powered by its correct 17-jewel Elgin grade 524 manual wind movement, just serviced and running strong.

Price $625. SOLD
