Scarce Gruen “Curvex Ristside Falcon” men’s Art Deco design wristwatch in 10K yellow gold fill, circa 1950.

Scarce and highly desirable, the "Ristside Falcon" is one of Gruen's most dramatic Curvex models. The large stepped and hinged lugs prompt many collectors to refer to as the "Eaglewing" or "Batwing" watch. The hinged lugs allow the watch to be worn comfortably in the conventional manner on top of the wrist, or as a driver's watch on the side of the wrist... hence the name "Ristside." It was priced at $71.50 in 1950. This is one of the nicest examples I have ever offered and is in crisp, excellent condition with only a few specks of brassing to the tips of the lugs. Deeply curved caseback is excellent and unengraved with only a few tiny specks of wear. Lugs show only very light wear on the underside edges. Case measures 47mm long and 24mm wide. Original black dial is superb. Has new glass crystal. The watch is powered by its correct 17-jewel Gruen grade 440 Precision Curvex manual wind movement, just serviced and running strong.
